제프리 마이어스(엮은이)
뉴욕에서 자랐고, 미시건대에서 학부를 졸업한 후 버클리대에서 박사 학위를 받았다. 1975년에서 1992년까지 콜로라도대에서 학생들을 가르쳤으며, 켄트대와 메사추세츠대 초빙 교수, 버클리대의 초빙 학자(Scholar) 등을 역임했다. 콜로라도 연구상을 3회 수상했으며, 헌팅턴 도서관, 풀브라이트, 전미지식위원회 ACIS, 구겐하임 등에서 연구비를 지원받았다. 현대 미국, 영국, 유럽의 문학에 관한 43권의 책과 550편의 논문을 발표했다. FBI 파일에서 헤밍웨이에 대한 자료를 발견하는가 하면, 윈드햄 루이스, 에즈라 파운드, 로이 캠벨의 중요한 친필원고를 발굴하기도 했다. 1992년부터는 캘리포니아 버클리에 거주하며 전업 작가로 활동해왔다. 영국 왕립 문학회에 소속된 열두 명의 미국인 중 한 사람이기도 하다. 주요 작품으로 <소설과 식민지 경험(Fiction and Colonial Experience)>, <상처받은 영혼-로렌스의 지혜의 일곱 기둥 (The Wounded Spirit: A Study of T.E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom)>, <동성애와 문학(Homosexuality and Literature)>, <조지 오웰의 안내서(A Reader's Guide to George Orwell)>, <그림과 소설(Painting and Novel)>, <로렌스와 이탈리아 경험(D.H. Lawrence and the Expeience of Italy)>, <질병과 소설(Disease and the Novel)> 등의 문학 비평서와 다수의 전기가 있다.
