수전 셀러스(엮은이)
유목민처럼 떠도는 유년기를 보낸 뒤 도망치듯 파리로 떠나 싸구려 월세 방 ‘샹브르 드 본느’에서 지내며 술집 웨이트리스와 투어가이드, 보모 생활을 전전했다. 소프트웨어 매뉴얼 등을 번역하고 할리우드 시나리오 작가와 공동으로 영화 대본을 집필하던 중에 엘렌 시수를 비롯한 프랑스의 대표적인 페미니스트 작가들과 친분을 쌓았고 그들의 작품을 영어권에 소개하는 역할을 하기도 했다. 이후 파리를 떠나 아프리카 대륙 남쪽의 스와질란드에 가서 부족 할머니들에게 영어를 가르쳐주었고, 페루의 여성인권단체에서도 일을 했다. 스코틀랜드에 정착한 후 소설을 쓰기 시작해서 2002년에 캐넌게이트 출판사의 신진작가상을 수상했다. 지금은 케임브리지 인근에서 작곡가인 남편과 함께 어린 아들을 키우며 세인트앤드루스 대학에 영문학 강사로 출강 중이다. 지금까지 다수의 번역서와 단편소설을 발표했지만 장편소설은 《그녀들의 방-버지니아 울프 & 바넷사 벨》이 처음이다.
수 로우(엮은이)
프리랜서 작가이자 강사로, 영국의 이스트 앵글리아 대학교 등에서 강의하였다. 저작으로는 소설 『Estella, Her Expectations』와 시집 『The Spitfire Factory』, 그리고 비평서인 『Writing and Gender: Virginia Woolf’s Writing Practice』등이 있다. 로우는 『The Cambridge Companion to Virginia Woolf』의 공동 편저자이기도 하며 펭귄 출판사의 ‘모던 클래식’ 시리즈에서 버지니아 울프의 소설 『Jacob’s Room』을 편집하였다. 최근 저작으로는 많은 찬사를 받은 전기(傳記) 『Gwen John: A Life』가 있으며, 현재 영국 브라이튼에서 거주하고 있다.
