존 루카치(지은이)
헝가리 부다페스트 태생으로 1946년 공산주의 정권을 피해 미국으로 이주했다. 1947년부터 1994년까지 체스트넛힐대학교 역사학과 교수로 재직했고 컬럼비아대학교, 존스홉킨스대학교, 프린스턴대학교, 부다페스트대학교 등에서 초빙교수를 지냈다. 학문적 주제는 20세기 현대사, 그중에서도 처칠과 히틀러, 파시즘과 나치즘 등이다. 저서로 『히틀러와 스탈린의 선택, 1941년 6월』June 1941: Hitler and Stalin, 『1940년 5월 런던의 5일』Five Days in London, May 1940, 『역사의 히틀러』The Hitler of History, 『간략한 20세 역사』A Short History of the Twentieth Century 등이 있다.
