알랭 바디우(지은이)

모로코의 라바(Rabat)에서 태어났다. 프랑스 파리고등사범학교 출신으로 젊은 시절에는 사르트르주의자였고, 이후 알튀세르의 작업에 참여하여 1968년 과학자를 위한 철학 강의에서 ‘모델의 개념’이라는 제목으로 강연을 하기도 했다. 그러다 68년 5월 혁명 이후 확고한 마오주의 노선을 취하며 알튀세르와 결별했고, 1970년대 내내 마오주의 운동에 투신했다. 하지만 이후 프랑스에서 마오주의 운동이 쇠락하자 다른 정치적, 철학적 대안을 찾고자 노력한다. 마침내 바디우는 1988년 『존재와 사건』을 출판하여 철학의 새로운 전망을 열었고, 이후 2006년에 『존재와 사건』의 2부인 『세계의 논리』를 출간하고, 2018년에는 3부인 『진리들의 내재성』을 내놓음으로써 그의 진리 철학에 방점을 찍는다. 또한 그는 정치적 투사로서 2000년 이후 중요한 정치적 사안에 개입하여 신자유주의 정치를 신랄하게 비판하는 한편, ‘당 없는 정치’를 주창하며 의회민주주의에 대한 가장 근본적인 비판을 수행하고 있다. 이러한 정치적 개입은 『정황들』 연작 등에서 확인할 수 있다. 파리8대학 교수로 재직했고, 1999년부터 파리고등사범학교 교수로 활동했으며, 2002년에는 고등사범학교 부설 프랑스현대철학연구소를 창설했다. 현재는 미국과 영국 등지에서 활발한 강연 활동을 하고 있으며 프랑스현대철학연구소의 소장 직을 맡고 있다. 지은 책으로는 『철학을 위한 선언』, 『수와 수들』, 『조건들』, 『윤리학』, 『사도 바울』, 『세기』, 『유한과 무한』, 『투사를 위한 철학』, 『철학과 사건』, 『행복의 형이상학』, 『참된 삶』 등이 있다.
