마이클 하워드(지은이)
1922년 영국 출생으로 영국을 대표하는 전쟁사가다. 런던 킹스 칼리지 전쟁 연구 담당 교수, 옥스퍼드대 치첼리 전쟁사 담당 교수, 예일대 군사 및 해군사 담당 교수로 재직했다. 현재는 옥스퍼드대 근대사 분야 명예 교수이자 국제 전략 문제 연구소 평생 고문으로 활동하고 있다. 대표 저서로는 더프 쿠퍼상을 받은 The Franco-Prussian War: The German Invasion of France, 1870~1871 (London, 1961), 울프슨 재단 역사상을 받은 History of the Second World War: Vol. IV Grand Strategy, August 1942~September 1943 (London, 1971), Clausewitz (Oxford, 1983) 등이 있다. 국내에 소개된 저서로는 『20세기의 역사』(공저, 이산, 2000), 『평화의 발명: 전쟁과 국제질서에 대한 성찰』(전통과현대, 2002), 『유럽사 속의 전쟁』(글항아리, 2015), 『제1차 세계대전』(교유서가, 2015) 등이 있다.

마이크로소프트 Windows XP 팀의 보안 프로그램 매니저이다. 보안 디자인, 프로그래밍 및 테스트 기술을 중점적으로 다루며, 회사 내ㆍ외부에 수 백명의 사람들과 일하고 있다. 매년 그들의 어플리케이션 보안을 돕기 위해 힘쓰고 있다. 그는 Microsoft Press에서 출간된 DESIGING SECURE WEB-BASED APPLICATIONS FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000의 주요 저자이다.
