노버트 쉐나우어(지은이)
1923년 트란실바니아에서 태어났다. 부다페스트와 코펜하겐에서 공부했고, 1959년 캐나다 맥길대학교에서 건축학 석사를 받았다. 1960년부터 1988년 석좌교수로 퇴임할 때까지 맥길대학교 건축대학 교수로 재직했다. 퇴임 후에도 건축가이자 도시계획가로 맥길대학교 '윌리엄 C. 맥도널드' 명예교수로 재직했다. 모교 부다페스트 기술대학에서 명예박사 수여가 결정되었을 때, 사망했다. 전국 건축현상설계에서 수상했고, 퀘벡 건축가협회로부터 메달을 수여받았으며, 건축대학협회로부터 우수교수상을 수상했다. 지은 책으로는 <중정주택>, <현대 토착주거 개설>, <전후의 도시, 교외, 주거>, <수공예와 아르 누보 주거> 등이 있다.
