로디 도일(지은이)
1958년 아일랜드 더블린에서 태어나 더블린 예술대학교를 졸업했다. 교사로 근무하며 영문학과 지리를 가르치다가 1991년 『커미트먼트(The Commitments)』를 시작으로 여러 작품이 영화화되면서 성공한 작가의 반열에 올랐다. 특히 1993년에 유년 시절과 노동자 계층을 매력적으로 묘사한 소설 『패디클라크 하하하(Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha)』로 부커상을 수상하면서 국제적인 명성을 얻었다. 주요 작품으로 『스내퍼(The Snapper)』 『헨리라는 별(A Star Called Henry)』 『로버 크리스마스를 구하다(Rover Saves Christmas)』 등이 있다.
