책소개
수원 화성은 실학사상에 의해 축조된 조선 후기 성곽 건축의 꽃이며 근대 문물의 태동을 보여 주는 역사적인 증거물로 남아 있다. 수원 화성의 건축 의도와 공역 과정, 임금 지불 방법 등 문물의 변이 현상에 초점을 두어 쓰여진 책이다. 제대로 복원된 수원 화성이 현대 생활에서도 일익을 담당하게 된 오늘날의 모습을 반영한다.

저자소개
김동욱(지은이)
고려대학교 건축공학과를 졸업하고 일본 와세다대학에서 박사학위를 받았다. 경기대학교 건축학과 교수를 거쳐 2017년 현재 명예교수로 있으며 한국건축역사학회 회장, 문화재청 문화재위원회 위원을 지냈다. 건축물의 외형보다는 당시 지식인들의 건축에 대한 생각, 건축을 짓는 데 참여한 장인들의 기술, 물질적인 여건 등을 통해 시대의 건축을 입체적으로 파악하는 데 집중하고 있다. 지은 책으로 《한국건축 중국건축 일본건축-동아시아 속 우리 건축 이야기》(2015),《(개정) 한국건축의 역사》(2013), 《도산서당 선비들의 이상향을 짓다》(2012), 《실학 정신으로 세운 조선의 신도시 수원화성》(2002),《조선시대 건축의 이해》(1999), 《18세기 건축사상과 실천》(1996), 《한국건축공장사연구》(1993), 《종묘와 사직》(1990), 《창덕궁 깊이 읽기》(공저, 2012) 《영건의궤-의궤에 기록된 조선시대 건축》(공저, 2010) 등이 있고 주요 논문으로는 〈조선 초기 경복궁의 공간구성과 6조대로〉, 〈현륭원의 입지선정과 원침계획에서 정조의 역할〉, 〈18세기 구 수원읍내 주민구성과 주택규모〉 등이 있다.
김광훈(옮긴이)
Translator of UNESCO World Heritage Hwaseong fortress, is the author of best-selling Manager Kim’s English diary and You are all my reasons which was inspired by John Nash Jr., a renowned Nobel prize laureate for his famous ‘Game theory’ and the movie “A beautiful mind.” He began his translation career in politics and expanded into Engineering and Construction. He has received the bronze medal from the Nationwide English language contest hosted by KUFS(Korean University of Foreign Studies). He has published over 100 articles in Small & Medium enterprise news etc. and has been Sr. manager since 1997 in the world largest semiconductor assembly and test service company.
손재식(사진)
Graduated from Sinku college worked for Daelim Industrial Co. and Daewonsa. He has published several photo books on Alps (1985), Himalaya mountains (1987) and cultural heritage.

손유택(감수)
충북 영동에서 출생하여 고려대 대학원에서 현대 영시를 전공하고 문학 박사 학위를 받았다. 수원대에서 영문학 교수를 역임하였다. 번역서로 『빛은 동방으로부터－타골의 전기』, 『랑프리에르의 사전』 상.하, 『해석이란 무엇인가』, 『소설의 숲으로 여섯 발자국』 등이 있으며, 영역서로는 Seoul:Portraits in Legend and Place, Pictorial Representations of World Cultural Heritage in Korea, “The Collection of Songgang(Jeong Cheol)’s Poetry”, “A Study of Philosophy” 등이 있다. 이 외에도 한국 철학과 유학에 관한 많은 논문을 영역하였다.
조두원(감수)
경기도 용인에서 태어나 경희대 건축공학과를 졸업한 후, 학군장교로 최전선에서 군복무를 수행하였다. 학부과정 중 설계경기에서 당선된 것이 계기가 되어, 문화유산과 관련한 설계를 더 공부하고자 독일에서 심화연구 및 실무를 하게 되었다. 독일 아헨공대에서 설계와 보전건축이론을 공부한 후 석사를 마치고 독일 밤베르크대학에서 보존건축으로 석, 박사학위를 받았다. 2010년부터 현재 경기문화재단 남한산성 세계유산센터에서 세계유산업무를 담당하고 있다. 2010년부터 이코모스 한국위원회(ICOMOS KOREA) 정회원과 이코포트(ICOFORT Voting Member) 선거위원으로 활동하면서, 세계유산등재관련 실사, 등재신청서 평가 및 세계기념물기금(World Monument Fund) 지원평가를 수행하고 있다.
Dara Fox(감수)
Dara Fox is an Assistant Professor of English at the Institute of Foreign Language Studies, Korea University. He has been employed by Korea University for a total of seven and a half years, over two periods since 2006. He graduated with an M. A. in Modern English and American Literature from University College Dublin, Ireland, in 1992. Prior to coming to Korea, Dara Fox was a freelance journalist and editor, working on a variety of national and trade publications, both magazines and newspapers. He also edited or proofread several books. In 2015, he proofread a book entitled Korean Philosophy: Sources and Interpretations (Korea Univ. Press, 2015), which is a survey of the historical origins and development of the various religious and philosophical traditions in Korea, as well as the theological debates surrounding them.
