'A History of Architectural Conservation' expands knowledge about the conservation of ancient monuments, works of art and historic buildings. This includes the origins of the interest in conservation within the European context and the development of the concepts from Antiquity and the Renaissance to the present day. The influence this development has had on international collaboration in the protection and conservation of cultural heritage is covered. Jukka Jokilehto is the Assistant to the Director General of ICCROM, where he has spent over 25 years working on all aspects of architectural conservation. He is also the President of the International Training Committee of ICOMOS, and was previously active with UNESCO and the World Heritage Convention. He studied architecture at Helsinki, and received his D. Phil. in conservation from the University of York, England.
