A resource for counselors and students. Section I presents first-person life stories of 12 pioneers in multicultural counseling. Part II discusses ethics and professional issues, and Part III defines and explores White racism, White and male privilege, and new clinical conceptualizations for helping targets of racism. Part IV gives information on quantitative measurements of acculturation, racial identity, prejudice, and multicultural counseling competence. Part V summarizes and evaluates emerging theories, and Part VI discusses career development. Part VII looks at the intersection of sexual orientation and feminism with multiculturalism, and Part VIII discusses counseling supervision and examines multicultural issues salient to predominantly White and historically Black colleges and universities. This second edition is expanded to include more coverage of historical perspectives, counseling's role in fighting oppression, and higher education issues. Annotation c.
