영국의 앨범 커버 디자이너. 1946년 영국에서 태어난 오브리 파월은 1968년 그래픽 디자이너 스톰 소거슨과 더불어 전설적인 디자인 그룹 ‘힙노시스’를 조직해, 본격적으로 LP 디자인의 세계로 들어섰다. 힙노시스는 1960년대 사이키델릭 유행과 맞물려, 당시 미술, 음악, 영화, 문학 등 전 세계를 선도하던 영국 런던을 선도하는 디자인 그룹으로 발돋움하는 데 성공한다. 이후 핑크 플로이드의 《Dark Side of the Moon》, 레드 제플린의 《Houses of the Holy》, 폴 매카트니 앤 윙스의 《Band on the Run》 등 대작을 선보이며 음악 마니아들을 비롯한 감수성 예민한 젊은 세대들에게 결정적인 영향력을 행사했다. 1994년, 파월은 힙노시스에 대한 다큐멘터리를 직접 감독했으며, 2014년 발매된 핑크 플로이드의 마지막 정규 앨범 《The Endless River》를 디자인했다. 그가 스톰 소거슨과 함께 이끈 힙노시스는 그래미 어워드에 총 다섯 번이나 후보에 올랐으며, 현재까지도 수많은 디자이너 지망생 및 음악가들에게 영감의 원천이 되고 있다. 2017년 힙노시스 일대기를 총결산하는 카탈로그 『바이닐. 앨범. 커버. 아트』를 발간했다.
