아브너 시모니(지은이)
철학자이자 이론물리학자. 보스턴 대학의 명예교수이다. 〈Search for a Naturalistic World View〉로 1996년 자연철학 부문에서 라카로스 상을 수상하기도 했다. 1995년과 1996년 자연철학협회장을 지내기도 한 그는 시작 활동도 하고 있으며, 평화 운동에도 적극적으로 참여하고 있다.
낸시 카트라이트(지은이)
피츠버그 대학교에서 수학을 전공하고(1966년) 일리노이 대학교에서 '양자역학의 철학적 분석'으로 박사학위를 받았다(1971). 매릴랜드, 스탠퍼드, 캘리포니아, 프린스턴, 피츠버그 등의 대학교 및 캘텍 연구소에서 교직을 지냈으며, 현재는 런던 경제학 스쿨(LSE) 및 캘리포니아 대학교의 철학 교수로 재직 중이다. 또한 LSE 자연철학 및 사회철학 센터, 케임브리지 역사 및 경제학 센터에서 물리학과 경제학을 중심으로 과학사 및 과학철학을 연구하고 있다. 저서로는 <자연의 능력과 그 측정법(Nature's Capacities and Their Measurement)>(1994), <오토 노이라트(Otto Neurath)>(1996), <얼룩진 세계(The Dappled World)>(1999) 등이 있다.
