Brings together 44 of the papers from the spring 1999 symposium. The papers are organized into seven sections that reflect the materials systems and issues of electrochemical materials research and development in batteries, fuel cells, and capacitors. The first three parts are largely devoted to lithium ion rechargeable battery materials with discussions of cathodes for lithium ion rechargeable batteries, anode developments (focusing on carbon and metal oxides), and nickel/metal hydride battery materials. Other sections deal with proton exchange membrane fuel cells, oxide materials for solid oxide fuel cells, and developments in electrochemical capacitors. Annotation c.
