크리스 애튼(지은이)
영국 스코틀랜드의 에든버러 네이피어 대학(Edinburgh Napier University)에서 1999년 “영국의 대안언론에 관한 연구”로 박사 학위를 받았다. 2003년부터 동 대학에서 미디어와 문화 전공 교수로 재직 중이다. 대안언론을 주로 다루며 미디어에 대한 민주적 접근 즉, 참여적 미디어의 사회적 가치, 미디어를 이용하는 문화의 유형을 연구한다. 미디어를 이용하면서 의미가 어떻게 형성, 재형성되는지가 주 관심사다. 주요 저서로 An Alternative Internet(2004), Alternative Media(2002), Alternative Literature(1996) 등이 있다.
