재스퍼 포드(지은이)
1961년 영국 런던에서 태어났다. 영화판 잔심부름꾼에서 시작하여 카메라맨 보조로 경력을 쌓는 등 20여 년 이상 영화산업 쪽에서 일했다. 대학교육을 받지 않았지만, 고전을 즐겨 읽으며 문장력을 키워 촬영작업 틈틈이 소설을 써나갔다. 그렇게 해서 완성된 작품이 총 여섯 편의 '서즈데이 넥스트(Thursday Next)' 시리즈. 처음에는 황당무계하다는 이유로 투고한 출판사들마다 퇴짜를 놓았으나, 2001년 출간된 데뷔작 <제인 에어 납치 사건>이 열광적인 독자층을 형성하면서, 재스퍼 포드 또한 국제적인 명성을 얻게 되었다. 2006년 현재 창작활동 외에 비행사로서의 삶을 살고 있다.
