제이 에멀링(지은이)
현재 미국 노스캐롤라이나 대학교 예술건축대학의 현대미술 조교수로 재직하고 있다. 웨슬리언 대학에서 학사를 취득하고 로스앤젤레스의 캘리포니아 주립대학에서 미술사 박사학위를 받았다. 박사논문의 제목은 『수집의 제스처: 발터 벤야민과 현대미학 The Gesture of Collecting: Walter Benjamin and Contemporary Aesthetics』이다. 현대미술과 비평이론 간의 교류 연구에 관심을 가지고 있으며, 특히 사진 이미지에서 보여지는 예에 주목한다. 최근 저서로는 『사진: 역사와 이론』 (2012)이 있다.
