폴 세잔(지은이)
근대 회화의 아버지로 불리는 프랑스 화가. 1839년 남프랑스의 엑상프로방스에서 태어났으며, 본질적이고 변하지 않는 사물의 구조를 탐색하기 위해 평생 동안 드로잉에 몰두하였다. 인상파 화가들과 교류하였지만 독창적인 화풍을 개척해 큐비즘을 비롯한 20세기 미술의 문을 열었다. 1906년 그림을 그리다가 쓰러져 세상을 떠났다.
