Korean Culture Series #5. The aim of Modern Korean Ink Painting is to further a general understanding of how Korean art and the times it represented were related. Starting with the dawn of the modern age in Korean art (1876-1910), which looks at the legacy of court painting and the last of the literati painters, the book then moves on to the modern art era in Korea (1920-1940), following that up by examining the forces at work during the perpetuation of nationalism, which lasted well into the 1980s.

저자소개
정형민(지은이)
미국 웰즐리 대학(Wellesley College)에서 서양미술사를 전공하고, 미시간 대학(University of Michigan)과 컬럼비아 대학(Columbia University)에서 동양미술사로 각각 석사 학위와 박사 학위를 받았다. 1994년부터 2017년까지 서울대학교 미술대학 동양화과 미술사 교수로 재직했으며, 예술의전당 전시감독(1999-2001), 서울대학교미술관 관장(2006-2012), 한국미술이론학회 회장(2006-2008), 국립현대미술관 관장(2012-2015)을 역임했다.
