조앤 위커셤(지은이)
1957년 미국에서 태어났다. 《자살 인덱스》로, 2008년 전미 도서상 비소설 부문에 입선했으며 ‘최고의 책’으로서 언론을 휩쓸었다. 2007년에 문학지 《플라우셰어스》에서 수여하는 코헨 최우수 단편상을 받았고, 1990년에는 《미국 우수 단편선》에 작품이 실렸다. 1993년 첫 소설집 《지혼식The Paper Anniversary》을 썼으며, 미국국립예술기금 등을 지원받았다. 《아그니》, 《글리머 트레인》, 《허드슨 리뷰》, 《스토리》 등 문학지와 유수의 일간지, 국제 주간지, 여성지, 일반 잡지에 작품을 발표하고 논평을 기고했다. 《보스턴 글로브》 신문의 고정 칼럼니스트이며, 매사추세츠 주 케임브리지에서 문필 활동을 하고 있다.
