미국 매사추세츠대학교에서 커뮤니케이션학 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 브라이언트대학교 커뮤니케이션학과 교수로 재직 중이며 초대 학과장을 역임했다. 미디어가 사람들의 삶 전반에 미치는 영향에 대해 탐구해왔으며 최근에는 미디어 리터러시에 특별한 관심을 가지고 연구하고 있다. ABC, IBM 등을 비롯한 여러 기업과 기관에서 커뮤니케이션 관련 자문위원을 맡았다. 주요 저서로는 Introduction to Mass Communication: Media Literacy and Culture, Introduction to Human Communication: Perception, Meaning, and Identity(공저) 외 다수가 있다.
Dennis K. Davis(지은이)
미국 미네소타대학교에서 매스커뮤니케이션학 박사학위를 받았다. 현재 펜실베이니아주립대학교 커뮤니케이션학과 명예교수이다. 미국의 주요 언론 학회인 저널리즘·매스커뮤니케이션교육학회(AEJMC)와 전미커뮤니케이션 학회(NCA) 분과장을 역임했다. 지난 40여 년간 매스 커뮤니케이션 이론을 비롯해 미디어 리터러시, 정치 커뮤니케이션, 국제 커뮤니케이션과 관련한 연구에 매진해왔다. 주요 저서로는 Mass Communication and Everyday Life: A Perspective on Theory and Effects(공저), Introduction to Mass Communication Theory(공저) 외 다수가 있다.
