책소개
This survey text covers counseling in forty nations in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America. Each contributor gives a short, concentrated overview of the situation in their country, and a bibliography. The ACA is assumed as the standard of best practice, and contributors write in terms of how their people's beliefs and their nation's practices deviate. The editors have found contributors from the countries about which they write, who are certified in an ACA-approved manner and work in their home nations. These accounts also give information on how the closest equivalent to the US mental health profession in their nation interacts with other local counseling professions such as nurse, priest/lay counselor, traditional physician, shaman, family/community leader, diviner, or social worker.
