이스라엘 텔아비브 대학의 ‘에제르 바이츠만 국가안보 석좌교수’. 같은 대학의 정치학과 학과장을 두 차례 역임했으며, 텔아비브 국제 외교안보 프로그램을 창설해 이끌고 있다. 이스라엘 하이파 대학에서 학사, 텔아비브 대학에서 석사, 영국 옥스퍼드 대학 올 소울스 칼리지에서 박사과정를 마쳤다. 이스라엘 방위군 예비역 소령이다. 연구 주제는 전쟁의 원인과 진화, 군사이론, 군사전략, 민족주의 등이다. 저서로 『군사사상의 역사: 계몽주의부터 냉전까지A History of Military Thought: From the Enlightenment to the Cold War』 『민족: 정치적 종족성과 민족주의의 오랜 역사와 깊은 뿌리Nations: The Long History and Deep Roots of Political Ethnicity and Nationalism』 『전쟁의 원인과 평화의 확산The Causes of War and the Spread of Peace』 등이 있다.
