포스트모던 사상과 현대 종교에 대한 탁월한 연구자. 미국 시라큐스 대학교 교수이며, 하이데거, 데리다, 아퀴나스 및 윤리학에 관한 다수의 저서를 출간하였다. 저서로 《종교에 대하여 On Religion》《신의 약점: 사상신학 The Weakness of God: A Theology of the Event》을 비롯해, 바티모(Gianni Vattimo)와 공동으로 저술한 《신의 사후 After the Death of God》 등이 있다. 임규정 현재 군산대학교 철학과 교수이며, 고려대학교 철학 박사, 미국 세인트올라프 대학교 키르케고르라이브러리 객원 연구원을 역임했다. 저서로 《헤겔에서 리오타르까지》(공저), 《공간 물질, 시간 정신 그리고 생명 진화》(공저) 등이 있고, 옮긴 책으로 《불안의 개념》《죽음에 이르는 병》《유혹자의 일기》《키르케고르, 코펜하겐의 고독한 영혼》《키르케고르》《카사노바의 귀향》 등이 있다.
