로렌 그레이엄(지은이)
매사추세츠공과대학(MIT) 과학기술학 및 하버드대학교 과학사 명예교수이다. 1933년 인디애나주에서 태어나 1955년 퍼듀대학교에서 화학공학 학사 학위를, 1964년 컬럼비아대학교에서 역사학 박사 학위를 취득했다. 이후 인디애나대학교, 컬럼비아대학교, MIT, 하버드대학교에서 교편을 잡았으며, 영미권에서 소련 및 러시아 과학사 분야를 개척했다고 평가받는 원로학자이다. 주요 저서로는 『소련과학원과 공산당, 1927~1932(The Soviet Academy of Sciences and the Communist Party, 1927-1932)』(1967), 『소련의 과학과 철학(Science and Philosophy in the Soviet Union)』(1972), 『처형당한 엔지니어의 유령(The Ghost of the Executed Engineer)』(1993), 『우리는 러시아의 경험으로부터 과학과 기술에 대해 무엇을 배웠나(What Have We Learned about Science and Technology from the Russian Experience?)』(1998) 등이 있다. 2016년에 출간된 『리센코의 망령』은 그의 최신 단행본 연구서이다. 고령임에도 코로나19 팬데믹 직전까지 정정한 모습으로 매사추세츠주 케임브리지 곳곳에 나타나 후학들을 격려해 주었으며, 이 책의 한국어판의 실물을 받아보기를 고대하고 있다.
