존 슈메이커(엮은이)
사회심리학자이자 신경정신과 전문의인 존 슈메이커 박사는 현대인의 정신건강을 문화인류학 관점에서 파헤친 책을 여러 권 썼다. 2001년 펴낸 는 물질주의가 정신건강에 끼치는 영향을 다룬 책이다. 미국 위스콘신 주에서 태어나 자란 슈메이커 박사는 25년 간 아프리카 잠비아, 남아프리카공화국, 태국, 영국, 아일랜드, 호주에 살면서 의사로서 봉사활동을 했고, 2008년 현재 뉴질랜드 크라이스트처치에 살고 있다.
