위르겐 하버마스(엮은이)
프랑크푸르트학파 2세대를 대표한 철학자이자 사회이론가. 그는 독일 현대철학과 해석학, 영미 언어철학, 사회학의 여러 이론을 체계적으로 수용 및 종합함으로써 ‘비판이론’을 재구축했으며 이를 통해 하버마스는 의사소통행위이론, 민주주의적 법치국가론, 현대성 비판과 재구성, 헌법애국주의, 세계사회헌법 및 탈형이상학적 사고의 기획 등을 전개해 왔다. 이로써 그는 서구 사회·정치철학의 정점으로 평가받는 학문적 성취를 이루었으며, 68혁명부터 최근의 러·우전쟁에 이르기까지 현실 문제에 관해 시의성 있는 통찰을 지속적으로 제시해 왔다. 수많은 학문적·정치적 논쟁에 간여하면서 시대를 선도한다고 평가받은 그의 대표 저서로 《공론장의 구조변동》, 《의사소통행위이론》, 《인식과 관심》, 《이론과 실천》, 《아, 유럽》, 《사실성과 타당성》, 《현대성의 철학적 담론》, 《이질성의 포용》, 《진리와 정당화》 등이 있다. 2026년 3월 향년 96세를 일기로 별세했다.
