토머스 소웰(지은이)
미국 경제학자. 1930년 미국 노스캐롤라이나 개스토니아에서 출생해 뉴욕 할렘에서 성장했다. 고등학교 중퇴하고 해병대에 입대해 한국전쟁에 참전했다. 1958년에 하버드 대학을 졸업하고, 1959년에 콜롬비아 대학에서 석사학위를, 1968년에 시카고 대학에서 박사학위를 받았다. 코넬대학과 UCLA 등 대학을 비롯해, 어번 인스티튜트 등 여러 싱크탱크에서 활동했다. 저서로 <A Conflict of Visions><The Vision of the Anointed> <The Quest for Cosmic Justice> 등이 있다.
