풍경화 화가인 아버지를 따라 11살 때 처음 채색화 여행을 다녀온 후로 지금까지 40여 년간 채색을 해왔다. 뉴스쿨오브아트와 토론토의 온타리오 예술대학에서 공부했고, 이탈리아 플로렌스에서 인물화를 배웠다. 야외 채색에 관해 여러 대학에서 강의했고 아틀리에 생뤽(Atelier Saint-Luc) 구도 워크숍을 했다. 라구나 플레네르(Laguna Plein Air) 화가 협회의 정식 회원이다. 저서로는 『창의적 진정성: 예술적인 시각을 확립하고 발전시키는 16개 법칙 Creative Authenticity: 16 Principles to Clarify and Deepen Your Artistic Vision』이 있으며, 『야외에서 채색하기 Plein Air』와 『채색화 구도 만들기 Mastering Composition』 비디오를 제작했다. 현재 캐나다 온타리오 조지안 만 근처에 살고 있다.
