'우리 시대' 음악에 대한 안내서. 유사한 역사를 가진 동시대의 음악들이 각국의 음악적, 사회문화적, 민족적 고유성과 결합되어 어떤 음악세계를 형성했으며, 지금 어떻게 나타나고 있는지, 또한 어떠한 방향으로 나아갈 것인지를 살펴보았다. 이러한 논의를 통해서 황병기.진은숙.호소카와.탄둔 등 한국, 일본, 중국의 대표적인 최근 작곡가와 그들의 음악 경향을 살펴보고, 동아시아 전반의 현대음악 경향을 시대적.역사적 맥락에서 설명하고 있다.

‘우리 시대’ 음악에 대한 안내서

최근 동아시아 현대음악은 어떠한가? 동아시아의 상호 관계가 점점 밀접해지는 21세기 글로벌 문화 시대를 맞이하여 한국·중국·일본·미국·독일 음악학자들이 함께 프로젝트를 결성하여 이 책을 발간하게 되었다.
한국, 중국, 일본은 모두 서양음악을 수용하였고, 동시에 각 나라의 역사적 문화적 특수성으로 인해 그 지역 고유의 개성적인 음악문화를 형성하고 있다. 이 책에서는 유사한 역사를 가진 동시대의 음악들이 각국의 음악적, 사회문화적, 민족적 고유성과 결합되어 어떤 음악세계를 형성했으며, 지금 어떻게 나타나고 있는지, 또한 어떠한 방향으로 나아갈 것인지를 살펴보았다. 이러한 논의를 통해서 황병기·진은숙·호소카와·탄둔 등 한국, 일본, 중국의 대표적인 최근 작곡가와 그들의 음악 경향을 살펴보고, 동아시아 전반의 현대음악 경향을 시대적·역사적 맥락에서 설명하고 있다.
