로이 바우마이스터(지은이)
플로리다주립대학교의 심리학과 교수이며, 프랜시스 에피스(Francis Eppes) 석좌교수이다. 의지력, 자제력, 대인관계와 소속감, 섹슈얼리티와 젠더, 공격성, 자아존중감 등 광범위한 주제로 500여 편의 논문을 발표했으며, 미국과학정보기구에서 가장 많이 인용한 심리학자 중 하나로 선정되었다. 2013년 심리학회에서 수여하는 최고 영예인 윌리엄 제임스 펠로우상을 받았다. 지은 책으로 뉴욕타임스 베스트셀러인 『의지력의 재발견(Willpower)』을 비롯하여 『소모되는 남자(Is There Anything Good About Men?)』, 『정체성(Identity)』, 『문화적 동물(The Cultural Animal)』, 『자존감(Self-esteem)』 등 30여 권이 있다.
