루스벨트대학교에서 수학과 물리학 학사학위를 취득하고 신시내티대학교에서 운영연구로 석사학위를, 정량분석으로 박사학위를 취득했다. 조지워싱턴대학교, 뉴올리언스대학교, 보스턴대학교, 조지메이슨대학교에서 강의했으며, 메이슨재단(Mason Foundation)에서 의사결정과학부서의 회장과 교수직을 역임했다. 또한 제너럴일렉트릭(General Electric), 맥도널더글러스(McDonnell Douglas), NASA 우주항공 분야에서 일한 바 있으며, 현재는 플로리다주 윈터파크에 위치한 롤린스칼리지 크러머경영대학원의 운영 관리 명예교수이다.
