책소개
The second volume, based on a second round of studies, in a research project by the World Bank. A selection of 18 case studies look at the issues of corporate governance that have emerged in response to economic changes in eastern European countries in the early 1990s. After setting out the focus and method of the studies, the selection of firms, and the overall findings, reports on four foreign-owned firms, 11 domestic outsider-owned firms, and three domestic insiders as owners. Concludes that managers are generally competent at both administration and vision, that owners have little trouble ousting incompetent managers, and that the nationality of ownership makes little difference in governance styles or practice. Some of the material has appeared in Eastern European Economics. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
