Book Introduction
This new survey covers the rich and varied history of participatory art, from early happenings and performances to current practices that demand audience interaction. 로버트 앳킨스(지은이)
미술평론가, 큐레이터, 미술사 교수, Village Voice의 고정 컬럼니스트로 7Days, Art News, Contemporanea, Elle, Arena 등에 기고하고 있으며 National Endowment for the Ats와 Manufacturers Hanover Bank 로부터 비평가상을 수상했다. 뉴욕의 신현대미술관, 클럭타워, 상파울루 비엔날레 전시회를 기획한 바 있으며 AIDS관련 프로그램 및 전시회를 후원하는 Visual AIDS의 창립 멤버로 활동하고 있다 .
보리스 그로이스(지은이)
철학자이자 예술 비평가다. 1947년 동베를린에서 태어나 1965년 소련의 레닌그라드대학에서 철학과 수학을 공부한 후 소련에 정착한다. 1981년 서독으로 이주하면서 이른바 ‘서방 생활’을 시작했으며 미국 여러 대학에서 방문 연구를 했다. 1992년에 뮌스터대학에서 박사 학위를 취득한 후 1994년부터 카를스루에 조형예술대학에서 미디어 철학 및 예술 이론 전공 교수로 재직하다가 2009년에 뉴욕으로 이주했다. 현재 뉴욕대학 러시아 및 슬라브 연구 글로벌 석좌교수다. 러시아 아방가르드의 미학적 기획과 스탈린의 정치적 기획 사이의 내적 연관성을 통찰한 첫 저서 『스탈린의 종합예술』을 통해 동시대의 가장 논쟁적인 사상가로 떠올랐다. 그 후로도 『아트 파워』, 『형식이 된 역사: 모스크바 개념주의』 등 현대 예술 및 미디어에 관한 흥미로운 이론적 성찰들을 잇달아 내놓았다. 보리스 그로이스는 2011년 제54회 베니스비엔날레에서 러시아관의 책임 큐레이터로 활약하는 등 예술 현장에서도 활동했다. 2012년에는 ‘역사 이후: 사진작가로서의 알렉상드르 코제브’라는 전시 프로젝트로 광주비엔날레에도 참여했다.
