마르쿠스 가브리엘(지은이)
현대 철학의 신실재론을 주도하며 세계적 명망을 받는 철학자. 1980년 독일의 진치히에서 출생하였고 본, 하이델베르크, 리스본, 뉴욕에서 수학했다. 29살인 2009년에 본 대학교에서 인식론 및 근현대 철학을 가르치는 석좌 교수에 임명되며 독일 최연소 교수로 주목받기도 했다. 현재는 국제 철학 센터와 과학 및 사상 센터 소장을 겸임하고 있다. 뉴욕의 사회 연구 뉴스쿨New School for Social Research 내 철학 및 새로운 인문학 연구소Institute for Philosophy and the New Humanities 창립 이사 중 한 명이며, 2024년부터는 교토 철학 연구소Kyoto Institute of Philosophy의 수석 글로벌 고문으로도 활동하고 있다. 펴낸 책으로는 삶의 보편적 가치를 다룬 『어두운 시대에도 도덕은 진보한다』와 인본주의 3부작인 『왜 세계는 존재하지 않는가』, 『나는 뇌가 아니다』, 『생각이란 무엇인가』가 있으며, 그 외에 『허구의 철학』, 『예술의 힘』, 『초예측, 부의 미래』(공저), 『신화, 광기 그리고 웃음』(공저) 등 다수의 저서를 발표했다.
