마이클 해머(지은이)
비즈니스 리엔지니어링 개념의 창시자이며 경영 이론의 대가 중 한 사람이다. 「비즈니스위크」의 “1990년대 4대 경영이론가”, 「타임」의 “가장 영향력 있는 미국인 25인”에 선정되었다. 메사추세츠공과대학교(MIT)에서 공학 학사, 전기공학 석사, 컴퓨터공학 박사 학위를 취득한 뒤 1973~1982년 MIT 컴퓨터공학과 교수를 거쳐 몇몇 첨단 기술 기업의 설립자와 임원을 역임했다. 이후 경영 컨설팅 회사 해머앤코퍼레이션(Hammer & Corporation)을 설립해 대표이사로 활동하다 지난 2008년 9월 타계했다. 현대 기업혁명 운동의 불씨가 된 <리엔지니어링 기업혁명>은 「포브스」의 “비즈니스 명저”로 선정된 바 있다. <리엔지니어링 기업혁명>은 1993년 처음으로 출간된 그의 첫 번째 경영 이론서이자, 타계 전 최신 개정판을 출간함으로써 생애 마지막 경영서가 되었다.
